Join our Cause: 2026 Urgently Need Qurban - Udhiyah Cow Meats for 10,000 IDPs in Eastern Congo DRC and Burundi Refugee Camps.
Preamble:
This proposal seeks funding to providing Qurban meat to approximately 10,000 vulnerable households (approx. 50,000 individuals) among internally displaced people (IDPs) in Eastern DRC and Congolese refugees in Burundi (Busuma site, Nianganda Refugee Camp, Muyinga) for Qurban 2026. The project addresses acute food insecurity, providing high protein nutrition to families, including orphans, widows, and elderly persons facing critical shortages. As of early 2026, over 90,000 Congolese refugees have fled to Burundi since December 2025, as of early 2025, over 5.6 million people are internally displaced in the DRC, with over 4 million internally displaced (IDP) in eastern provinces (South Kivu, North Kivu). The humanitarian situation for internally displaced Muslims in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Muslim refugees in Burundi is severely critical and widely consider a “forgotten Ummah” crisis, despite escalating violence in early 2025.

Rational: The DRC continues to face a complex, protracted crisis, leaving millions displaced, living in makeshift shelters, and facing severe food shortages. Concurrently, thousands of Congolese refugees in Burundi face critical, worsening humanitarian conditions. Qurban/Udhiyah provides necessary protein and dignity to those populations during a key religious observance.
Short Story 1: “A Forgotten Eid in South Kivu – DRC and Burundi Refugee Camps” Fatuma and her four children fled their home in South Kivu in the middle of the night, leaving behind their cattle and their food stores. Now, they are huddled under a torn plastic sheet in a crowded camp in Eastern DRC, surviving on one meal a day. “Last year, we had no meat. My children asked me when Eid was coming, and I had to tell them I did not know,’ she says, her eyes filled with tears. When the world turned its back, Fatuma only hopers for one thing: that a Muslim brother or sister, somewhere, will hear her story and share the blessing of Qurbani. ” Even a small piece of meat will mean our children know they are not forgotten by Ummah.”
